Dr. Joseph Geenen is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a member of the Pancreatic Biliary Services Steering Committee at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a world renowned expert in the field of Gastroenterology and has pioneered research work in the area of therapeutic endoscopy for treatment of ulcers, gallstones, pancreatic disease, and sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction. He is a past President of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Currently, he is the Treasurer of the OMGE; member of the Planning Committee for the 2005 World Congress; member of the
Racine Advisory Board of Directors, Johnson Bank,
Racine, Wisconsin.
He is the editor of six books, published over 100 articles and written 22 book chapters. He has been a faculty speaker at many national and international conferences. Over the years, he has received many awards including the prestigious Schindler Award and Bengt Ihre
Award, presented to him
by the Swedish Medical
Society. He was named
one of "400 Best Doctors
in America." He
received the American
Gastroenterology
Association's
Distinguished Clinician
Award in 1999. He
was named Alumni of the
Year in 2000 by the
Medical College of
Wisconsin/Marquette
University, and received
the Alumni of the Year
Award in 2001 by the
Medical College of
Wisconsin. The
Republican Party of
Racine County
(Wisconsin) awarded him
the "1992 Distinguished
Citizen Award."
He received his undergraduate specialty medical degree from Marquette University. He completed his Internship at the University of Minnesota Hospital, Internal Medicine Residency at Milwaukee County General Hospital, and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and the speciality of Gastroenterology.
